THE Delta State Command of the Nigeria
Security and Civil Defence Corps says it has arrested and is currently
prosecuting no fewer than 76 suspected pipeline vandals across the
state.
The state Commandant, Mrs. Beatrice
Irabor, in a chat with journalists on Saturday, disclosed that the
arrest of the suspects was made between January to March, 2016, adding
that many of the suspects were arrested within Amai and Kwale
communities in the state.
Irabor said the state Command of the
NSCDC had been working hard to deliver on its mandate, adding that with
the cooperation of the people of the state, the corps had recorded
successes.
She said, “Since my assumption of office
as the state commandant of the NSCDC, we have made tremendous
achievements in the arrest of pipeline vandals and we are currently
prosecuting 76 suspected vandals arrested within Amai and Kwale
communities with the cooperation of the people of the state.”
Irabor pointed out that apart from the
vandals being prosecuted, the corps also arrested and transferred 22
cases of misconduct to other relevant agencies for prosecution while it
mediated in 100 civil cases.
The NSCDC boss urged citizens of the
state to assist the command with useful information that would help it
(command) to arrest suspected vandals within their areas.
She enjoined the corps to maintain a
cordial relationship with members of the public in view of the numerous
security challenges currently bedeviling the nation.
The NSCDC state commandant also called
on Nigerians to always support security agencies, stressing that
collective effort will yield great results.
