Idris Adesina
Super Falcons coach, Florence Omagbemi,
is confident that Nigeria will defeat Senegal in a Cameroon 2016
Africa Women’s Cup of Nations qualifier on Friday.
The Falcons, who won the tournament in Namibia in 2014, will play Senegal in Dakar for a place in the competition.
Omagbemi told thenff.com that the Falcons would not only defeat their West African rivals over two legs but would also defend their title.
The former international said she was
happy with the quality of players in the team after beating FC Eaglenet
of Abuja 1-0 in a warm-up match.
“The way we are now, we are ready for Senegal,” Omagbemi said.
“We are the defending champions, and we
just have to be really prepared so that we can remain on top. Most teams
in Africa want to beat Nigeria, and we will not let that happen.”
According to the Nigeria Football
Federation, the Falcons will travel to Senegal on Tuesday for the
first leg of the qualifier.
The Senegalese Football Federation
confirmed the first leg match would take place on Friday, while the
NFF also confirmed the return leg will be played on April 12.
Senegal beat Guinea in the first round to book a place against the African champions.
